Teak wood shower bench



Teak wood is a type of tropical hardwood native to parts of Asia and South America. It is prized mainly for it's water resistance, structural qualities, and is commonly used in many aquatic applications. Most notoriously would probably be boats, however, it is also heavily employed as shower furniture and general furniture. Teak is a natural material, so, in many regards, it's safer. Oftentimes metal and plastic components rust or wear down over time.

Teak's innate capabilities come from a strong oil coating that permits it to repel water with ease, but there's more to it than that. Teak has superb structural qualities and resists mold, rot, and fungus very well. Teak also retains an interesting property that it can adapt to water changes without being ruined.

Teak, if you can foot the bill, is definitely a top choice for a shower bench. While metal and plastic may be cheaper they probably won't last as long or look as good. Take time looking for the proper bench, certain glues destroy Teak's water resisting properties, so ensure your bench is fastened not glued.
